When you hear names like Kate Middleton, Chris Rock, Elon Musk, Michael Phelps, Bill Clinton, what comes to mind? They are all celebrities, however one other thing they have in common is that they were all bullied at a much younger age. As a matter of fact, some were bullied to the point of coma. But how were they able to survive persistent bullying. Even after they survived, did it cause any detriment to their lives and persons?
Eminem was a young white child who constantly changed his school due to his mother's constant work change. Due to this he didn't really have friends. Being a constant newbie in schools and a white kid in a black neighbourhood, he became a scapegoat for bullying. Kate Middleton was also picked on when she was a newbie at Downe house, a girls' boardinghouse in Berkshire. She was picked on for being gangly and lanky. Let's stop here a while to consider why a person could become a target for bullies. Two things: your vulnerability and uniqueness (what makes you different from others, whether physically or based on personality). It is important you come to terms with what the society perceives or may perceive as difference or what makes you vulnerable. Prepare yourself or loved ones for it by boosting your or their self esteem. Another thing you must learn is the art of speaking up to a higher authority. Now there are situations where higher authorities may not take it seriously, like the Duchess of Cambridge experienced. What should you do?
